Who runs Mastodon? Can I request features/report bugs?
The Mastodon software and the mastodon.social instance were originally created by Gargron. While the Mastodon software is open-source, and a number of developers and programmers have contributed to it, Gargron is the one that maintains the software and approves new code.
There are a few ways in which you can request new features for the Mastodon software, or report bugs that you find:
- If you know how to utilize github, it's fairly easy to request features or report bugs here. Before doing so, however, please try to make sure that the feature or bug report that you're bringing up hasn't been added already.
- If you don't know how to use github, you can always report bugs or relay feature requests to Mastodon's Support account.
- A last resort option would be to kindly ask another user with knowledge about github to add the report for you!
